The New York Times > Arts > Jerry Orbach, Star of 'Law & Order,' Dies at 69
I've been a Law & Order fan since the series premiered, so I'm quite familair with Jerry Orbach. I saw a lovely tribute to him on NBC a few moments ago, with several clips of him singing on Broadway. People knew him as Detective Lenny Briscoe, but not many outside NY knew his for his rich, deep baritone voice, or veteran stage chops.
Theatres throughout New York City dimmed their lights in honor of on of its legends.
