I'm just over an hour away from the zenith of this week. At 9:30, I'll stand in a large band room in front of five brass faculty and play the better part of two movements from the Sonata for Bass Trombone by Patrick McCarty. Since my studio grade can't deviate more than a letter from my jury grade, you can see how the importance of this morning can't be underestimated.
But really, no pressure. Sheesh.
2:50 PM... the worst is over. and by worst, i suppose i mean the jury. i wasn't in sync with the accompanist at times during the 1st movement, but it wasn't a train wreck. the sight-reading was though. a disaster of a train wreck. ugh. well, we shall see how things turned out eventually. at least i was dressed nicely and sounded pretty. if nothing else, i've got some pretty tone.
