The Varnish Cooks’ picture is featured on the home-page of the George Eastman House’s website! We’re one of four groups performing there next weekend for “Reels and Reels,” an American stringband film and music festival. The headliner is a great banjo player from North Carolina, Bob Carlin, but it’s our picture that the Eastman House put up on their website... very cool and very exciting!
Given that our picture won’t be up there forever, I’ll also stick a screenshot of it up here for your pleasure:
We’ve got just four or five shows left this month before Aaron, our guitarist, moves back to Louisiana to be near his family. We’ll be auditioning guitarists this fall after we wrap up our shows with Aaron. Even though we’ll have a break while we reorganize, but the gigs we’ve got coming up are big ones:
• Turtle Hill Folk Festival, sharing the stage with The Powder Kegs;
• Clothesline Festival;
• Eastman House show;
• ARTWalk Festival;
• possibly a show at Hobart & William Smith College.
We’ll have CDs ready for sale, and some bumper stickers to give out too... it’ll be a great couple weekends of shows that might help boost our notoriety.
