CNN.com - Castro: U.S.?hasn't responded to Katrina offer - Sep 5, 2005

Hmm... I know Castro and Cuba are our enemies and they're a bunch of heathen commies. But Fidel is offering over 1,000 physicians each toting almost 30 pounds of medicine each. Why on earth can't we bury the hatchet and accept his offer? Not only do we need help from anywhere we can get it (especially skilled medical help), but this could be something that helps improve relations with Cuba.

And we want to smoke Cuban cigars legally too. So let's accept Castro's offer of doctors, huh George?

G.W.'s pride is much more important than the victims in need of medical assistance. Did you forget?

Ryan,

You need to learn not to be snookered by Fidel. He is a master at it. He makes these grandiose gestures all the time to the United States so that we look bad, its propoganda. I was curious about this myself and when I looked deep into it found out that Castro was more than happy to say it in front of a camera. But never made an official offer from his government.

It's ok to dislike your government and its leaders, you are in America, but don't make the mistake of trusting Castro and thinking he is a Humanitarian. His gulags make Abu Grahab look like a vacation retreat.
